Tyrod Taylor Has Been Letting People Say His Name Wrong for Years

The now Cleveland Browns player Tyrod Taylor has apparently just been letting everyone mispronounce his name this whole time. It took one of his teammates to step up and correct everyone.

Tyrod Taylor recently transferred from Buffalo Bills to the Cleveland Browns for his upcoming eighth season, but before the season officially begins, there's been a little confusion regarding his name. Up until this point, pretty much everyone thought his first name was pronounced 'Ty-Rod,' but according to his teammate Joel Bitonio, it's actually pronounced Tuh-Rod.

This is how good of a teammate LT Joel Bitonio is. He told me Tyrod Taylor’s name is actually pronounced TUH-rod, not TY-rod. And that while Taylor may be too nice to correct people, HE feels it’s important to get it right. From here on out, I will. #Browns

As Deadspin points out, this all started when in the first episode of Hard Knocks, Cleveland Browns' third-string quarterback Brogan Roback pronounces Taylor's name as "Tuh-Rod." At first, people assumed it was a mistake, but shortly after more people began hearing the said pronunciation. NFL Network reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala was told by Bitonio, however, that Roback was correct.

#Browns QB @broganroback11 tells @923TheFan @TyrodTaylor told the QB room his name is pronounced “Tuh-rod”. When he was at Virginia Tech, Lee Corso went with “Ty-rod” in production meeting so he just went with it going forward

Apparently, it all stemmed from his days back in Virginia Tech and ever since, Taylor has been too polite to correct anyone.

Tyrod’s agent told me it was TY-Rod. His pops told me it was TY-Rod. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO BELIEVE https://t.co/RFHCPxt4Yh

The Cleveland Browns have even so far as to show how the name is to be pronounced.

ESPN's Mina Kimes, however, said that she's been told by both Taylor's agent and father that it's "Ty-Rod."

Wait, what? Okay, then. #TyrodGate continues.
