LaVar Ball Says Lakers Trading Lonzo Would Be 'The Worst Move They Ever Made'

LaVar Ball, father of Lonzo Ball, has long made it clear that he believes LeBron James will sign with the Lakers. But he also knows that could mean the Lakers would trade Lonzo — which he thinks would be a foolish move.

LaVar Ball has long made it clear that he believes LeBron James will sign with the Lakers this summer. LaVar even guaranteed it would happen and has taken to calling the Cavs star "L.A.-Bron." Vegas appears to agree with LaVar, favoring L.A. above the other contenders to land King James.

If that outcome comes to fruition, however, L.A. may look to move Lonzo, as LeBron would almost certainly prefer to avoid the Ball media circus. The Lakers may also look to deal Lonzo if that means they could land Kawhi Leonard, who reportedly wants to join L.A. Either roster shakeup could end with Lonzo in a different uniform.

LaVar, however, thinks that would be a seismic mistake.

"If they wanna trade him, trade him. It'll be the worst move they ever made," LaVar told TMZ at the launch of his JBA league. "If they wanna trade him, trade him. If you don't wanna trade him, keep him. He's gonna do his thing. I'm not worried about no trades here or there...somebody will take all three of my boys, and whoever do, guess what? Championships, all day."

LaVar has not lost faith in his belief that his three sons will one day play on the same NBA team.

"I said this in the beginning man, when he was going to UCLA: if somebody don't take him, that's fine—he'll come in the back door as a free agent," LaVar said of LiAngelo, who was not selected in Thursday's NBA Draft.

He added that LiAngelo will just have to do his thing in Summer League, but it appears Gelo won't have an opportunity with the Lakers this summer.
