Stranger Things stars at 2017 Emmys

Stranger Things has been one of the most successful Netflix original series in recent memory, and the Emmys definitely recognized the show accordingly: it was nominated for a whopping 18 Emmys this year, including one for Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Supporting Actress and Actor nominations for Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour, respectively.

But as the Emmys started to unfold tonight, it became clear that Stranger Things was not going to sweep the night like many thought it would. In fact, the entire cast left the Emmys empty handed. Millie Bobby Brown lost in her category to Ann Dowd for her performance on The Handmaid's Tale, and The Handmaid's Tale also won for Outstanding Drama Series. It was a tough reality for many fans who tuned in tonight just to see one of last year's most popular shows get some awards love, but instead they had to be content with taking to Twitter to air out their frustrations.

Hey #strangerthings cast: your show will go down as one of the best and I love all of you #Emmys
Also wow just noticed both Stranger Things and Westworld left empty-handed. Did not expect that. #Emmys
Anyone else think #StrangerThings was ripped out of emmys. Ugh #Emmys
ok i'm actually surprised stranger things didn't win anything at the emmys, i expected they'd bring home 1 or 2
Not saying Stranger Things totally deserved that award but Stranger Things totally deserved that award. #Emmys

Emmy or no Emmy, one thing is certain: the cast definitely looked fly as hell on Sunday night.
