We're still over a year away from the release of the full-length Aquaman feature, and details have been sparse on what the movie is going to look like. Unlike a hero like Batman, who has villains that are just as embedded in popular culture as he is, the average moviegoer doesn't have a lot of intel on the aquatic crusader, so any morsel we can get is appreciated.

Unfortunately for all of us, the latest footage from the film was shown exclusively to a crowd at San Diego Comic-Con, and will remain that way unless someone leaks it. Thankfully, a few heroes in attendance have shared details of what they saw with the public, and Aquaman sounds like it's going to be a blast.

Germain Lussier of iO9 described the small preview starting with a pair of fisherman above the surface, and after one of the men gets his fishing pole yanked away by an unknown entity, the two men decide to take a peak into the water. The camera then reveals an "underwater armada of ships," accompanied by people riding fish and the appearance of a type of port below the surface.

The port appears to be quite substantive; live blogs from the scene described the Aquaman clip looking like "Star Wars but under water," high praise for any movie in Aquaman's lane. As the footage comes to a close, viewers saw Jason Momoa's Aquaman beckoning to an unseen character, brandishing a sword as he says, "You don't want to talk about this, do you? Neither do I."

In a discussion prompted by that final sequence, lead actor Jason Momoa clarified who the the main antagonist in the movie will be during a post-footage panel. According to Momoa, the army of ships viewers saw below the surface belong to none other than Ocean Master, the brother of Aquaman.

"That's Ocean Master's army," said Momoa. "I'm going to be fighting my brother."

This is a huge development for the film and fans of the Aquaman character. Previous reports claimed the primary villain in the film would be Black Manta, Aquaman's greatest foe in the comic world and a logical jumping-off point for the movie franchise. But this is coming directly from the star of the film's mouth, and the sibling rivalry will add another layer of intrigue to the 2018 movie.

Momoa is really playing his part to generate hype for the movie. He showed up to the panel wielding Aquaman's infamous trident, and stood on stage strumming it like an air guitar in front of the adoring fans.

If his excitement level right now is a reflection of his performance in Aquaman, fans will be in for a treat when the movie releases next December. Until then, just cross your fingers and hope some brave soul finds a way to sneak the exclusive footage onto the internet.
