XXXTentacion's Domestic Abuse Charges Officially Dropped After His Death

Two months after the death of 20-year-old XXXTentacion, prosecutors dropped the domestic abuse charges against him. He was also facing witness tampering charges, also expected to be dropped.

Before XXXTentacion met an untimely death at the hands of a shooter in South Florida, he was engulfed in controversy. Earlier this year, ex-girlfriend Geneva Ayala accused him of domestic abuse, and the late artist was awaiting trial before he died.

Now, TMZ reports the domestic abuse charges were officially dropped because of X's death. The "SAD!" rapper was also accused of witness tampering, aka convincing his girlfriend not to stand trial. But it's expected that the witness tampering charges will be dropped as well.

This wasn't the only violent accusation XXXTentacion was facing. Earlier this year, a video surfaced of him punching a woman in the head. X's lawyers argued the two were "obviously friends, and also obviously acting in jest." The woman had a different story. "For those who are questioning why I didn't come forth earlier was because I was terrified for my life...," she wrote on her Instagram story at the time. "Imagine someone doing that to u unprovoked? At 16? Let alone the people he associates himself w/? Truth of the matter is I would still be holding on to this secret if it wasn't leaked."

X had a defamation lawsuit filed against her but it was dropped a few weeks before his death.

XXXTentacion was shot and killed in June in what police think was a random robbery. They've since arrested three out of four suspects for the murder but at least one might not be fit to stand trial. A judge ordered a mental exam which could prove the suspect incompetent to stand trial.
