Bobby Brown is crying fake news.
While taking questions at the Beverly Hilton Hotel—the same hotel where his ex-wife Whitney Houston died over six years ago—Brown denied ever physically abusing the late singer, despite several documented incidents of domestic violence. He disputed the claims Friday during a TCA summer press tour for his new BET miniseries The Bobby Brown Story. After expressing his regret over some his life choices, Brown was asked if he also regretted ever hitting Houston.
“There was no violent incidents between me and Whitney so, no,” the 49-year-old told a reporter, according to Vulture. When the journalist noted that Houston’s 911 calls were on public record, Brown replied: “No there wasn't [any calls]. You’re mistaken. You're completely wrong. You're completely wrong.”
Another reporter read from an article with transcripts of Houston calling 911 on Brown, whose responded with, “The public record is wrong.”
The intense moment occurred just a day after Brown announced his intention to build a domestic violence shelter in memory his daughter Bobbi Kristina, who died three years ago.
Brown’s denial has raised questions about the veracity of his upcoming miniseries, which he claims will clear up the misconceptions about his character. “I think the bad boy image came from me being onstage, not from me being a human being,” he said during the panel. “You see me in person, meet me somewhere, you won’t call me a bad guy. You’ll call me Bobby.”
