Omarosa Releases Alleged Recording of Her Getting Fired From White House

Omarosa Manigault-Newman dropped a recording of what she says is White House Chief of Staff firing her in the Situation Room.

Omarosa Manigault-Newman has been fired on television many times on The Apprentice, but this time around Omarosa is releasing a tape of what she says is her getting fired from her job as the director of communications for the office of public liaison at the White House.

On the recording, given to NBC's Meet the Press, Omarosa can be heard speaking with who she identifies as White House Chief of Staff John Kelly. "Is the president aware of what's going on?" she asks. "Let's not go down the road. This is a non-negotiable discussion," responds the person on the tape.

"I don't want to negotiate. I just I've never talked—never had a chance to talk to you General Kelly so if this is my departure I'd like to have at least an opportunity—to understand," Omarosa continues.

"We can, we can talk another time. This has to do with some pretty serious—integrity violations. So I'll let it go at that. So the staff and everyone on the staff works for me, not the president," says the other person.

Omarosa says she recorded this tape—along with several others during her time in the White House—to "protect [herself]."

"If I did not have this recording, people would still believe the false, incredible story that I was running around the White House," she told Meet The Press around the 13:20 mark (below). "That I tried to charge the residence at the White House. It’s a lie. If I didn’t have this recording, people would still think I was trying to set off alarms. So yes, I had to protect myself, and I have no regret about it."

However, many have claimed that her recordings could be a national security threat, especially since she says the exchange happened in the Situation Room.

But if her upcoming tell-all book, Unhinged: An Insider's Account of the Trump White House, gets the same fame as bestselling Trump exposé Fire and Fury, it may just be worth it for the reality TV star. She should probably lawyer up, though.
