In the latest episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, the show's host decided to tackle the infamous conspiracy theory group, QAnon.
QAnon emerged online about a year ago with an anonymous poster on 4chan and 8chan named "Q." He or she claimed to be an insider in the government's deepest circles. The anonymous Q has since posted cryptic messages for his or her followers, dubbed Anon, to decipher. The Anon often show up to Donald Trump's rallies with shirts reading, "We Are Q," "QAnon," or "We are Q” or their motto of “where we go one, we go all." So far, their biggest belief is that Trump is secretly working with Robert Mueller to bring down pedophiles in Hollywood and elsewhere. They're mostly anti-left as well.
"If Trump supporters don’t want us to call them stupid, they have to stop coming up with things like Q," said Maher in his monologue. "That’s right, Donald Trump was just posing as a disgusting pervert for the last half-century to gain credibility so he could go after the real perverts," he later continued.
But then the sarcastic host offered another tidbit of information that would only make sense to the QAnon. "The only thing that would make more sense would be finding out that a Trump-loathing conservative baiter like me is Q. Which is why it is true. I am Q," he say around the 4:35 mark.
The show briefly cut to a screen that read "Q," but when the camera was back on Maher, he was seen in a black hoodie with a laptop reading "Q." He continued the ruse: "I am 'Q.' It feels so good to finally be myself. A computer whiz in a hoodie. My entire life has been a sham that gave me the perfect cover to be your source for what's really happening in America," he said, adding that the "drugs, atheism, and stuff that happened in the Playboy mansion" were all fake and his jokes are all "coded messages." But above all, he's instructing his followers to stay home on Nov. 6 —Election Day. Hilarious. Check out the clip above.
