Japanese luxury brand Visvim has opened the doors on Visvim Exposition, its first flagship store in Los Angeles.

Located in downtown L.A.'s historic Bradbury building, Visvim Exposition marks the second retailer nationally for the brand since the 2017 opening of the Santa Fe, New Mexico location, and the ninth retail location globally. Since the founding of Visvim in 2000, celebrities and fashion icons alike have donned Hiroki Nakamura's designs—including Kanye West, ASAP Rocky, and John Mayer, just to name a few.

Unlike Nakamura's other retail locations, the design of the 3,000-square foot space is unique to its location, featuring a vintage Airstream trailer, a World War II era tent, and antique furniture from the late George Nakashima, an American woodworker and designer.

“I would like to think of this new location as an ever-changing installation of all my comprehensive work from past, present, and future” Nakamura explained. “It will be a freethinking gallery like experience with a rotating exhibition of new developments both within the brand as well as the work and ideas of other people with a similar ideology and philosophy.”

In addition to selling the brand's latest seasonal collections, Visvim Exposition will feature a special concept collection called F.I.L. Indigo Camping Trailer, as well as Contrary Dept., a collection exclusive to the L.A. location. Contrary Dept. departs from Visvim's staples of Native American-inspired sneakers and ponchos, shifting toward various styles of utility wear.
