Could This Be Virgil Abloh's First Louis Vuitton Creation?

The streetwear designer might have flashed a sneak peak at a potential design for his first LV collection.

At the end of March, Virgil Abloh was hired as men’s artistic director for the fashion house Louis Vuitton. The streetwear designer is fulfilling one of his wildest dreams with this latest career move, and style enthusiasts are more eager than ever to see what the  will dream up first for the luxury brand.

Some are speculating that one item in particular Abloh was seen sporting in a picture on Instagram may be his first official piece for LV. Abloh was spotted in a photo posted to Japanese artist Takashi Murakami's Instagram, in which Murakami captiond the pic "w @virgilabloh team no sleep!"

Abloh linked with Murakami not too long ago for their "Future History" exhibit at the Gagosian gallery in London, but these latest social media posts may hint at some further collaboration. Murakami also shared another picture of a more close-up view of the mysterious crossbody bag Abloh was sporting.

Murakami's caption states that the bag pictured is Abloh's "very first product" for Louis Vuitton, but it's unclear what that means in this instance.

The bag in question is a small, shoulder bag with what looks like an adjustable strap. It's also color-blocked in a bright blue with a small strip of the signature LV pattern exposed at the top, as well as on the shoulder strap.

Both fans of Abloh's work and Louis Vuitton enthusiasts are likely on the edge of their seats waiting for any glimpse of his first designs for the brand, but it's unclear yet whether this bag is anything more than an early prototype.

The 37-year-old designer has had a whirlwind of a year so far, including debuting his latest Off-White collection at Paris Fashion Week, teaming up with a French café, and releasing his first official single through Boys Noize records. Fans will have to keep their eyes peeled, and their IG feeds refreshed, for any new developments regarding Abloh's first Louis Vuitton line.
