Worn by mountaineers, explorers, and cold city kids - the iconic Nuptse jacket turns 25.

Born in 1992, the Nuptse Jacket is named after the Tibetan translation of "West Peak". The Nuptse is an area known as the 'golden mine of climbing', located a mile from the West Peak of Mt Everest.

The design team behind the jacket spent 55 days at the Nuptse basecamp where they learnt the importance of having gear that was 'right and light'. From this philosophy, the Nuptse was created - with baffled construction providing unprecedented insulation, lightweight materials and cut for ease of movement.

To mark a quarter century, The North Face has released exact replicas of the original 1992 Nuptse jacket in, cobalt blue, red, black and the yellow dome print. The jacket will also be available in gilet form and as always, constructed from the RDS-certified goose down.

Dive into the history of the Nuptse in the film above, check out shots of the anniversary jacket below, and for more info head over to The North Face's website.
