Years ago, Madden was way too generous with the 99 ratings. But that has long since been corrected (perhaps overly so), as now only a handful of NFLers at the top of their game(s) get that top overall on the day of the series' annual release. According to Steve Noah of Operation Sports, as well as Miguel Lozada (who put together a six-and-a-half minute YouTube video that allows you to see each team's roster) Madden '19 will only have a trio of NFL players at the top of the virtual pigskin mountain.

It should be stressed that this is not final, which we know because it says "(not final)" in Noah's tweet, but for now those three are: Rams DT Aaron Donald, Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, and Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Coming up just shy are Panthers LB Luke Kuechly, and aging in reverse reigning league MVP quarterback Tom Brady (who is appearing in like his 18th or 19th Madden at this point). See look:

This year's version of Madden is set to be released on August 10. Terrell Owens is slated to be the cover athlete for the "Hall of Fame" edition, while the potentially cursed player set to grace the standard edition will be revealed at some point later this summer.
