Cowboys Release Dez Bryant After 8 Seasons

The Dallas Cowboys have released wide receiver Dez Bryant after eight seasons.

On Friday the Dallas Cowboys released wide receiver Dez Bryant, who had spent eight seasons with the franchise after being drafted in the first round in 2010. The move was first announced by team owner/general manager Jerry Jones.

"As an organization, we hold Dez Bryant in the highest regard, and we are grateful for his passion, spirit and contributions to this team for the past eight years," Jones said via statement. "He will always be a valued member of our family." Bryant was reportedly not offered a pay cut, which he previously said he would've rejected anyway.

While Jones opted to go the old fashioned route by issuing a statement, Bryant instead chose to repond through social media:

Bryant had signed a 5-year/$70 million deal back in 2015. Since then his best season was this past year, where he recorded 69 catches for 838 yards and 6 touchdowns. He had also missed time with a broken foot (in 2015) and a tibial plateau fracture (in 2016).

Assuming he doesn't re-join Dallas at some point down the road, Bryant finishes his Cowboys career with 513 receptions, 7,459 yards (good for fifth in franchise history), and a team-record 73 touchdown catches.

He also hinted at wanting to join the Redskins, Eagles or Giants so he could go up against Dallas twice-per-year:

Plus he re-tweeted this:

This, of course, is not totally shocking considering that everything's still fresh.
