In roughly a few days, bestselling author James Patterson (as well as Alex Abramovich and Mike Harvkey) will publish an Aaron Hernandez book based upon their investigative reporting called, All-American Murder: The Rise and Fall of Aaron Hernandez, the Superstar Whose Life Ended on Murderer’s Row.
In addition to having a potentially definitive account of one of the more interesting athlete stories ever (for all the wrong reasons, mind you), the book will be getting the film treatment. Deadline reports that the Mark Gordon Company has bought feature rights for the book. For those of you unaware, Gordon has previously been a producer on a number of noteworthy projects, including: The Patriot, The Day After Tomorrow, Molly's Game and Saving Private Ryan. Patterson will also serve as the film's executive producer.
"The real, shocking events that led to Aaron Hernandez’s harrowing fall from NFL stardom gripped America’s attention and imprinted itself on today’s cultural zeitgeist," Gordon said, according to Deadline. "James is unmatched in his storytelling and reporting talents, and he chronicles this story with incredible insight and nuance. There is no other person with whom to collaborate to bring this timely film to life."
As you're no doubt aware, Hernandez (an ex-All-American and Pro Bowl alternate) was arrested for first-degree murder in 2013 and was later found guilty in 2015 (though he was technically acquitted since he died before his appeal could run its course). In 2017, he committed suicide by hanging himself in his cell. According to Amazon, Patterson's book will be available on January 22.
