The Cleveland Cavaliers pulled a petty—but entertaining—stunt on Los Angeles Lakers star Lonzo Ball.
While the teams warmed up for their Thursday night matchup at Quicken Loans Arena, the Cavs’ DJ decided to play Nas’ 1994 hit "New York State of Mind." Was it just a coincidence? That seems unlikely considering the DJ went on to play two more Nas tracks back-to-back.
The one-sided beef between Ball and Nas began more than three months ago, when the athlete declared Migos and Future are "real hip-hop" and "don’t nobody listen to Nas no more." Unsurprisingly, this didn’t go over too well with rap fans … or Nas’ camp.
The rapper’s manager Anthony Saleh responded to Ball’s controversial comments on social media:
Fast forward to this past Tuesday, when Ball took more shots at Nasir by rocking a graphic hoodie that featured his face Photoshopped on the cover of Nas’ album It Was Written. (A T-shirt version was unveiled back in October.)
Once again, many people—including Lloyd Banks—took issue with the disrespect.
Nas has yet to fire back at Ball. But does he really need to? His fans are doing a great job for him.
