Last month, adidas Originals unveiled a young cast cast of forward-thinking, talented creatives — known across the globe as symbols of evolution — across a wide variety of disciplines. Representing the sporting spirit of character and style, Florencia Galarza, captain of KITH FC, and NBA star Nick Young mesh alongside the energy of breakout artists Dua Lipa and Playboi Carti in the new 'Original Is Never Finished' campaign. Amongst the wild bunch, perhaps the most seasoned of stars is A$AP Ferg — who is several studio albums and mixtapes deep, both as a solo act and member of NYC rap crew, A$AP Mob. No stranger to the Three Stripes, back in 2015, Ferg collaborated with adidas Skateboarding for a collection merging skate culture with hip-hop to represent "nomadic youth."

With 'Original Is Never Finished' now unleashed onto the world, we caught up with Ferg for some quick-fire thoughts on creativity and evolution. "My earliest pair of adidas were the shelltoes," he tells me, referencing of course, the adidas Superstar, launched in 1969 but popularised by Run DMC in the '80s and early '90s. "I used to always associate adidas with Run DMC and then with Missy Elliot." Any approach towards creativity is always incomplete without preparation for when inspiration takes leave. A situation Ferg seems to have covered, he pledged to a popular method in "just doing other things outside of music." Conversation moves onto his late father, Darold Ferguson. "He was just known for being very creative and connected; he influenced a lot of people," Ferg adds, going on to reveal that the elder Ferg was involved in music locally and is today credited as designing the iconic logo for Bad Boy Records.
