Harvey Weinstein has been indicted on three additional felony sex charges, according to Variety. Two carry the possibility of life sentences.
Last month, the disgraced producer pled not guilty to multiple charges of rape and sexual misconduct. Those stemmed from the accusations of two women, and carry the maximum sentence of 25 years in prison.
On Monday, the Manahattan D.A.’s office announced that Weinstein faces three additional charges for an incident that took place in 2006 with a third woman. Per the indictment, he is accused of forcibly performing oral sex on the woman on July 10, 2006. He’s facing one count of criminal sexual act in the first degree, and two counts of predatory sexual assault.
The two latter felonies, according to Variety, are applied to people who have been prosecuted on multiple sexual assault charges, like Weinstein. These charges are the most severe of those he's faced so far, and as Class A-II felonies they could lead to a potential sentence of 10 years to life in prison. So far, no trial date has been set.
“A Manhattan Grand Jury has now indicted Harvey Weinstein on some of the most serious sexual offenses that exist under New York’s Penal Law,” D.A. Cy Vance said in a statement. “This indictment is the result of the extraordinary courage exhibited by the survivors who have come forward. Our investigation continues. Weinstein is currently free on $1 million bail, after his May 25 arrest. He’s also currently facing a class-action lawsuit from three women with allegations ranging from sexual misconduct and assault to rape.
