Announcing Our Third Annual ComplexCon

ComplexCon 2018 will take place Nov. 3-4 in Long Beach, California, with the third annual event bringing together important figures in our culture for an experience that brings the internet to life.

This November, ComplexCon will once again touch down in Long Beach, California, with the third annual event bringing together important figures in our culture spanning music, streetwear, art, entrepreneurship, and more for an experience that brings the internet to life.

We’re putting a focus on the enlightenment and empowerment of the individual through creativity for ComplexCon 2018. To signify this theme, founding host committee member and iconic contemporary artist Takashi Murakami has created an ensō, a sacred symbol that represents many things in Zen tradition. From fullness to emptiness, strength, or the universe, the definition of an ensō is up for interpretation. Takashi's hand-drawn, personalized ensō represents the cycle of life and creative pursuits, and using that energy as a positive force in the world. This theme is especially important in today’s climate of art, entertainment, and political issues merging, and will be present throughout the two-day event. It's also reflected in the new ComplexCon logo.

ComplexCon

“There is a cycle to everything—art, culture, design, life that begins with chaos where everything is mixed up together and as an idea forms, it changes and grows, it’s always moving from present to future. ComplexCon has this cycle, where so many ideas are swirling, the atmosphere is charged with potential and from that amazing ideas, collaborations are formed and the cycle continues,” Takashi says. “And I am deeply affected by events and chaos in the world but see incredible young people rise up to tackle them. And from that energy new things are born that touch everything in culture. It was important to embrace this at ComplexCon this year.”

One notable change for the 2018 edition of ComplexCon is that the Pigeons & Planes Stage will go down in the arena, providing a better experience for those looking to turn up with their favorite artists. The move also opens up more space on the exhibition floor for brands and organizations to showcase what they’ve been cooking up for attendees.
