Mira Sorvino was one of the many actresses to accuse former film exec Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct, and with criminal charges finally being brought to him, she told The Today Show's Savannah Guthrie that the move is a "really good first step."

"It’s him finally facing real, real criminal consequences for his criminal behavior," she said. "And for that, I feel gratified." Still, she isn't quick to celebrate just yet, at least not until the disgraced producer is actually behind bars. "I think maybe there will be some celebration when he gets convicted and goes to jail," she said. "That’s when we will see the process be complete and justice really being served."

Since turning himself in last month, Sorvino says she's been having a hard time working through her emotions about it all. "Honestly, last week was a very emotional one, and I cried many times because just seeing him brings up a lot of bad feelings, and he’s raped many people that I love," she said through tears.

Sorvino alleges that Weinstein invited her to his hotel room in 1995, gave her a massage and made sexual advances. She rebuffed his advances, a move she believed caused Weinstein to purposely derail her career. Her suspicions were confirmed last year, when The Lord of The Rings director Peter Jackson revealed that he was dissuaded from casting both Sorvino and actress Ashley Judd, who had similarly rebuffed Weinstein, after being told by the producer's then-company Miramax that they were "a nightmare to work with and [they] should avoid them at all costs." Another director, Terry Zwigoff, also revealed that Weinstein's suggestion had prevented him from casting Sorvino in his 2003 film, Bad Santa.

Weinstein pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape and one count of a criminal sexual act from incidents alleged to have taken place in 2004 and 2013. Additionally, he was hit with a class-action lawsuit from three other women accusing him of sexual misconduct and rape. Since last fall, dozens of women from Salma Hayek and Rose McGowan to Lupita Nyong'o and Uma Thurman have come forward to accuse him of sexual assault, rape and misconduct, which surprised Sorvino. "If we had known about each other then, I think we would’ve found strength in numbers and we would’ve done something," she added.
