Krysten Ritter, who stars in Marvel’s Netflix series, Jessica Jones, will be making her directorial debut on the next season of the show when she helms an episode, Deadlinereports. The show has already begun filming for the upcoming season, but any details regarding the episode Ritter will be directing have not yet been released, and neither has a release date for Season 3.

This is the best thing ever! Thanks @DEADLINE - I am over the moon to be directing JESSICA JONES! 🎉🎥 https://t.co/yOaBo3Otl1

“I am beyond thrilled to make my directorial debut on Marvel’s Jessica Jones,” said Ritter. The entire crew and cast has become family to me, and I’m so appreciative of the opportunity to work with our incredible team in this new way. I am so grateful that Melissa Rosenberg, Jeph Loeb, Marvel, and Netflix entrusted me to take the reins.” Ritter's involvement is a move that echoes showrunner Melissa Rosenberg's decision to make Season 2 directed entirely by women.

The show sees Ritter star as the titular character, a private eye with a slew of superpowers and a checkered past that includes a drinking problem and a quest for revenge for Kilgrave, played by David Tennant, the man who ruined her life.

Also, at least in the comics, she’s married to Luke Cage, which thematically helps build out Marvel’s Cinematic Universe nicely with Netflix’s Luke Cage show. Other Netflix Marvel shows include Daredevil, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and Punisher
