The reboot train just keeps on chugging along, but now that it’s entered the territory of some of NBC’s most beloved comedies, we’re really hitting some interesting speeds. There’s been some renewed interest in reviving The Officein some capacity, which would be amazing, but today there’s similarly exciting news about 30 Rock, easily one of the best sitcoms of all time. The indomitable Tina Fey created, wrote, and starred in the show. It did wonders for Tracy Morgan’s career and Donald Glover got his first job as a writer on the show from 2006 to 2009. So, you know, it’s pretty good.
Jane Krakowski, who starred as Jenna Maroney, recently told The Hollywood Reporter that she would be totally down for a 30 Rock revival, saying that it “would be a dream come true” since “we all had the greatest time on that show.”
“There’s definitely been talk and conversations” about the cast reuniting for more episodes, although she didn’t confirm if this meant a whole new season or if the entire cast would be equally down. "We all say over and over again that working on that show was probably the best experience we're ever going to have in our careers, as far as creativity goes," Krakowski said. "We're still so proud of the writing and the great characters. It was such a success and all of those things were amazing."
"Right now, [reboots are] the trend," she said, stating the obvious. "And I would be thrilled if the trend continued over into 30 Rock."
Entertainment Tonight managed to ask Tina Fey herself about the possibility of new 30 Rock episodes. “Oh my gosh, we’ll see. When will we know? We would know by May. If there was a great idea for a reboot, we’d find out in May?,” she said.
Krakowski’s comments echo the sentiments of NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt, who spoke earlier this month about which shows could be rebooted and which will probably stay in the past. The network has found success in reviving Will & Grace, and other networks are getting in on the action with revivals of shows like Roseanne, Clarissa Explains It All, Charmed, and Murphy Brown. Greenblatt says that Seinfeld, Cheers, and Friends are shows that could never be rebooted; meanwhile, The Office, The West Wing, or 30 Rock have more “favorable odds.”
"I’d say to Tina, 'Hey, you think some more 30 Rock makes any sense?' She’d say, 'I don’t know, maybe,’” Greenblatt said.
