Nicolas Cage Plans to Quit Acting in '3 or 4' Years

He'll stay in the business as a producer and director, though.

Nicolas Cage

Can you imagine the cinematic landscape without noted Declaration of Independence-stealer Nicolas Cage? How would we cope without the classic horror-comedyMom and Dad, in which Nic Cage murders his kids? Just think of all the memes we would have lost!

Whatever your opinion of Cage is as an actor, the fact remains that he continues to churn out interesting work on the regular. In fact, he was in Puerto Rico just this week to promote his new film, Primal, where he revealed that he does have an outline for his future in Hollywood. If you’re a die-hard fan, you might want to look away now.

In a video posted by The Blast, the actor revealed that he was “getting back in production” and that his company, Saturn Films, is involved in all of his movies going forward.

“Directing is something I look forward to down the road,” the actor said. “Right now, I’m primarily a film performer and I’m gonna continue doing that for three or four more years and I’d like to focus more on directing.”

Wait, what? The only film Cage has directed to date is Sonny, a widely panned offbeat drama released back in 2002. It starred James Franco and revolved around the story of a solider who returned home and tried to break away from his life as a "trained prostitute."

Perhaps he wants to keep his day job. Either way, the 54-year-old actor was surprisingly candid about when he envisions his acting career coming to and end. If he sticks to his guns, the rest of us will have to simply deal with it and try not to end up sounding like Cage himself as we wail with grief.
