There are at least two new faces coming to Hawkins, Indiana.
Variety reports that Cary Elwes and Jake Busey will join the third season of Stranger Things. Elwes will take on the role of Mayor Kline, "your classic ’80s politician—more concerned with his own image than with the people of the small town he governs." Netflix describes him as being "handsome, slick, and sleazy," so basically the opposite of former Toronto mayor Rob Ford (except for the sleazy part).
Busey will play Bruce, a journalist for The Hawkins Post with "questionable morals and a sick sense of humor." In other words, don't expect him to win Pulitzers anytime soon.
Back in February, The Hashtag Show shared information about both new characters, and revealed that another character, Patricia Brown, will be joining the series as well. She's described as a 70-something-year-old neighbor who will be "spending a lot of time tending to her garden and offering her advice to the neighborhood kids."
It's also been confirmed that Maya Thurman-Hawke—Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke's 19-year-old daughter—will join the third season as a lead. She'll reportedly play an "alternative girl" who's become tired of her uneventful life when she uncovers a "dark secret" in the town.
Along with the new faces, viewers will also be getting more of Lucas' adorable, but pesky little sister, Erica Sinclair. The actress, Priah Ferguson, was bumped from a guest role to a reoccurring one and is promised to have her own epic storyline as well.
While the third season of Stranger Things still doesn't have a premiere date, considering the show's massive popularity, Netflix cant get it back on the air soon enough.
