The most important television series in American history is returning. A new take on Blue's Clues, the Nickelodeon classic centered on the educational misadventures of a blue dog aptly named Blue, has been given a 20-episode order.
Nickelodeon is promising a "refreshed signature look" for the new series, according to Deadline. If being the new Steve/Joe sounds like the sort of gig for you, then start pricing flights to SoCal because the network is holding an open casting call in Burbank April 14. For the part, Nickelodeon is seeking women and men with a comedy background who can pass for anywhere between 18 and 25 years of age. Additional qualities that will help prospective hosts in the audition process include "playing the guitar, singing, and juggling." More info, including a sign-up sheet, can be found here.
"With Blue's Clues, Nickelodeon launched what became TV's first generation of interactivity for preschoolers and set the bar for quality, curriculum-driven shows we have made since," Nickelodeon Group president Cyma Zarghami said Tuesday. "The new, modern version of Blue's Clues will capture all the original's creativity and visual identity for a whole new audience ready for its fun adventures and expertly designed problem-solving curriculum." Though a premiere date hasn't been set, production is scheduled to begin this summer.
In loosely related Nickelodeon news, Kel Mitchell recently dumped a whole lot of fuel on the Good Burger 2 rumor fire. According to Mitchell, "conversations" have taken place. "There's something in the water, everything's coming back," he told BuzzFeed. "It will definitely be awesome and there was a meeting."
