Star Wars' fans are in for a treat as The Last Jedi will have a wide variety of unreleased material included in the Blu-ray that's due out next month.
The news comes from ABC's No. 1 Star Wars fan, Clayton Sandell, who revealed that the release will come with 14 deleted scenes, two behind-the-scenes features named "The Director and the Jedi" and "Balance of the Force," and three scene breakdowns. "The Director and the Jedi" will reportedly focus on director Rian Johnson's "personal journey" in creating the film while "Balance of the Force" will show Johnson explaining why he "chose to interpret [the force's] role in such a unique way." One of the behind-the-scenes features will also be focusing on Snoke.
As for the deleted scenes, Johnson gave some insight about what to expect in a previous Q&A captured by Collider.
"There are two big sequences that are really the kind of hero pieces of it. One is a whole other big thing between Rey and Luke on the island that involves the Caretaker creatures. You see this village where the Caretakers–the Nun Fish creatures–live, and it’s a sequence that I always really loved. It’s a really beautiful sequence. It’s one of those things where … and this always happens in the edit, it’s like suddenly you can see through the Matrix and you’re like, 'Oh my God, that big sequence that I love so much and I can’t imagine the movie without, if we lift it out and put these two things together, it plays in a slightly different way but it plays better,'" he said. "It’s three, four minutes."
Johnson also detailed another "fun" scene featuring Rose, Finn, and DJ as they sneak through the Mega Destroyer. "That’s another four minutes, or something," he explained. "But then there’s a lot of really substantial little scenes. There are scenes with Finn that ended up getting stripped away, kind of his motivation for going out to look for Rey. There’s a lot of stuff that I really love that I was really happy we were able to get back in there...there’s more than 20 [minutes] in there."
While The Last Jedi is Star Wars' longest film to date, there's still a lot of unused material. Luckily, fans will get to see it as soon.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi's digital release is set for March 13 while the Blu-ray is scheduled to drop on March 27.
