Blac Chyna became a trending topic over the weekend for all the wrong reasons.
A video of the model performing oral sex (believed to be her ex-boyfriend, up-and-coming singer Mechie) was leaked via social media. Though Chyna hasn't issued any statement directly about the NSFW footage, her legal team swiftly took legal action and accounts that have reposted the clip were suspended. Her lawyers, Walter Mosley and Lisa Bloom, are now issuing statements about why they're so passionate about bringing the person behind this leak to justice.
Taking to Twitter, Bloom explained the seriousness of the crime committed against her client. "Revenge porn—posting explicit images without the consent of everyone in those images—is a crime, a civil wrong, and a form of domestic abuse," she wrote in a tweet. "It's also a way to try to slut shame women for being sexual. Girls have killed themselves over revenge porn. It's not a joke."
When a follower rebutted that Chyna is partly to blame for agreeing to be recorded, Bloom snapped back with a lesson about consent. "Whether a woman knows she's being recorded is not the issue. Whether she consented to posting is. Our bodies, our choice, each and every time."
Mosley came to the former dancer's defense via Instagram. "We have to change this culture of abuse and assault against women," he writes in a lengthy caption. "Today’s post saddens me deeply as it is an attack not only against my client but my friend. Why do we think it’s acceptable to sell, or publish, or seek revenge, or blackmail women in this way and without their consent? It’s not. Men ... we have to do better."
Though plenty of fingers immediately pointed at Mechie, he still adamantly denies leaking the video.
