You Can Probably Guess Which TV Show Was the Most Pirated of 2017

Hint: It wasn't 'The Orville.'

TorrentFreak has released its ranking of the year's most pirated TV shows, and of course, the top two spots belong to Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead. For the sixth year in a row, Thrones holds steady as the most downloaded TV show through BitTorrent. At its peak, a whopping 400,000 people were actively sharing the season finale across multiple torrents.

Rick and Morty, Sherlock, and Prison Break make their debuts on the annual ranking this year. And for reasons I will never understand, people are still risking digital life and limb to pirate a show as unconscionably awful as The Big Bang Theory. See the full top 10 below:

  1. Game of Thrones
  2. The Walking Dead
  3. The Flash
  4. The Big Bang Theory
  5. Rick and Morty
  6. Prison Break
  7. Sherlock
  8. Vikings
  9. Suits
  10. Arrow

The Thrones pirating streak will likely end with next year's list, as it's now been confirmed by multiple involved parties that the HBO series' final season won't air until 2019

In an interview with Variety earlier this month, Thrones star Sophie Turner detailed her busy 2018/2019 schedule. "Yeah, I'm really excited," she said. "Game of Thrones comes out in 2019. [X-Men: Dark Phoenix] is in November. Then I have a couple indie movies coming out. I'm a producer on my next movie [Girl Who Fell From the Sky]. So I'm really excited about the future."

As for what to expect in the final Thrones batch, star Jason Momoa has called it the "greatest thing that's ever aired on TV" and Jon Snow himself, Kit Harington, promised the final bow will be "bigger than it's ever been."
