As the saying goes, "You’re always your own worst critic." Apparently, that still holds true even if you’re on a globally popular television show.

In an interview with British newspaper The Times, Stephen Dillane admits he really didn’t care for his performance as Stannis Baratheon on Game of Thrones.

Despite being a relatively important character on the series, Dillane says he had trouble following the show’s plot. (Finally! I thought I was alone.) For that reason, Dillane says he never felt like he could do his job well and thought "no one would believe" his performance, which "disheartened" him.

"I felt I’d built the castle on non-existent foundations," said Dillane. Castle? Wait, is he still in character?

Fortunately for Dillane, he had co-star Liam Cunningham, aka Ser Davos Seaworth, to rely on to boost his morale and performance. Cunningham is "so passionate" about the show says Dillane, who admits he was "entirely dependent" on his co-star to know what was going on in their scenes together.
