La La Anthony on Why She Doesn't Feed Into the 'Bullsh*t' Rumors About Her and Carmelo

La La Anthony hasn't addressed any of the rumors that have popped up about her and husband Carmelo Anthony in recent months.

2017 hasn’t been a great year for Carmelo and La La Anthony. Back in April, the couple reportedly split after seven years of marriage when Carmelo cheated on La La and got another woman pregnant. And while La La hasn’t been in any rush to divorce Carmelo, it seems as though they are still separated at the moment. Carmelo has tried just about everything to get back into La La’s good graces—she admitted as much during an interview with Wendy Williams in June—but nothing has worked so far, and it’s unclear if the couple will ever get back together.

Despite all of the drama involving her marriage, La La has continued to flourish on a personal level. She has assumed a much bigger role than she originally had on the hit show Power. She has produced a VH1 documentary called Goal Diggers. And she has stayed in the spotlight without having to address her breakup much at all.

Most recently, La La landed on the latest cover of Latina. In her cover story, she spoke about her acting career, her denim line, and her son Kiyan, who has had to adjust to Carmelo’s move to Oklahoma City. And at one point, La La also spoke about her relationship with Carmelo and, more specifically, why she has shied away from speaking about Carmelo much publicly in light of their split. There have been so many rumors flying around about them, rumors she very well could have addressed and shot down. But she told Latina why she has actively chosen not to go that route.

"When you entertain [rumors] you give them power," she said. "Only I know what’s going on with my relationship and that’s what matters to me, not what everybody else thinks. I’m trying to be an example for other women out there. You don’t have to feed into the bullshit. Deal with it quietly. When it’s time for the world to know, they’ll know. There’s no strength in playing it out publicly. What am I going to gain from that? I like the high road."

When you think about how many famous people don’t take this approach, it’s amazing to see La La staying strong and doing her best to keep her personal life private. And it’s even more amazing when you consider what a tumultuous year it’s been for her and her family. You can check out her full Latina cover story here.
