While we still don’t have any official confirmation of when to expect the final season of Game of Thrones to air, we are forced to sit around and wait for small breadcrumbs to satiate our appetite for literally just any piece of information about the epic fantasy show. But today we have got quite a few crumbs—some might even call it a full-on morsel—of intel from former cast member Jason Momoa, who played Khal Drogo, the leader of the Dothraki army.

We can only imagine the pressure to keep everything about the final season of Game of Thrones in absolute secrecy. Producers are even going as far as to shoot scenes they know they won’t use just to ward off potential spoilers. What's more, HBO is apparently spending as much as $15 million per episode of the show's eight and final season. That’s why it's so strange that Momoa literally just walked onto the set of the show in Belfast recently and learned pretty much how the entire series will go. But maybe that's just the kind of status you get when you star in Justice League and the upcoming Aquaman movie. He showed up on set just to catch up with his old former cast mates and the showrunners, and told Entertainment Weekly what he learned, which was a lot more than he asked for, as it turns out.

“Just knowing how amazing this season is going to be…” Momoa said. “It’s going to be the greatest thing that’s ever aired on TV. It’s going to be unbelievable. It’s going to fuck up a lot of people.”

Damn, Jason, tell us how you really feel. But to be totally honest, any massive fan of the show would probably be able to predict that much. It’s not a huge surprise that the same people who brought us events like The Red Wedding or The Battle of the Bastards or that crazy ice-dragon in the last season would suddenly aim lower than before for the very last season of the show. But it looks like Momoa got more information: in fact, it appears he found out the exact plot details of season eight.

“It was a bummer because I’m a huge fan and I didn’t want to know what’s going on. I was like, ‘Damn, I didn’t want to know that!” Momoa said.

Of course, Momoa wasn’t about to reveal any actual spoilers or even anything specific about what he learned. Honestly, I’d fear for his life if he dared to do anything like that. But he did reveal one thing, however obvious it might be: Khal Drogo really will not be returning to the show. Yes, it sounds obvious, but with this show, can anything really be true? After all, Jon Snow did come back from the dead…

“I just showed up to see [showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss] and I just happened to see people on set,” Momoa says. “I haven’t been over there in a long time. You just want to see your friends and you end up make headlines going, ‘Drogo’s back!’ and I’m like, ‘He’s dead! He can’t come back, it wouldn’t work.'”

Sounds like a die-hard fan who just happens to have a little more access to the cast and crew than we do.

“All last season I was jumping around like an idiot,” Momoa said. “Seeing the Dothraki riding over the hill, going into battle, surfing their horses, it was unbelievable. It was such a cool scene. It’s also a bummer moment: Why couldn’t [Drogo] have died there! I could have died in battle. We never got to see Drogo going into battle.”

Finally, although it was probably not his intention to do this, Momoa might have hinted at when we can expect to actually be able to watch the “greatest thing that’s ever aired on TV,” and it’s not anytime soon.

Speaking about one of the most climactic moments of season seven, Momoa said, “Seeing [Jon Snow and his companions] on that [frozen lake] island, white walkers all around, and the dragon turns into a white walker… You’re just like,'What? Now I have to wait a year and a half?'”

First of all, same. And second of all, there it is: a year and a half. Momoa is referring to Benioff and Weiss’s previously stated plan to spend a year and a half on this upcoming final season, so many were already calculating that season eight would only arrive sometime in 2019. It’s just nice to know that wasn’t too far off, and even though Khal Drogo Jason Momoa knows how the whole thing will end, he doesn’t know when us mere mortals will get to watch it.
