Quentin Tarantino is "heartbroken" over the wave of sexual assault allegations against Harvey Weinstein. In a brief statement released via his friend Amber Tamblyn, Tarantino added that he needed more time to process his feelings about the "revelations" before saying more.
"Last night I had a long dinner with my friend Quentin Tarantino," Tamblyn said on Twitter Thursday night. "He has asked me to share a statement with you regarding Harvey Weinstein." Read Tarantino's statement below:
After sharing the statement, Tamblyn advised that waiting to hear Tarantino's full statement before passing judgment was a "very good plan."
Tamblyn has since joined Friday's #WomenBoycottTwitter initiative, a response to the social media platform's confounding treatment of Rose McGowan earlier this week.
Tarantino and Weinstein have a longstanding relationship, dating all the way back to the director's Miramax-distributed feature debut Reservoir Dogs in 1992, on which Weinstein served as executive producer. In the decades since Tarantino's breakout cult classic, Weinstein has served as executive producer on Tarantino smashes including Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained.
The troubling allegations against Weinstein have ballooned this week following extensive investigative reports from both the New York Times and the New Yorker. Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, Asia Argento, Mira Sorvino, Ashley Judd, Cara Delevingne, McGowan, and multiple other women have come forward with allegations of harassment or sexual assault against the now-former Weinstein Company co-chairman.
On Thursday, police in London and New York City opened investigations in light of the allegations against Weinstein.
