Tragic 'Game of Thrones' Easter Egg Makes a Certain Season 5 Death Even Sadder

The 'Thrones' news doesn't stop just because the show is off the air until 2019.

The revelations surrounding struggling underground indie dramedy Game of Thrones just keep on coming. For the latest, fans have been treated to a delightfully tragic Easter egg by way of Reddit that teased a certain Jon Snow revelation years ago.

As people who appreciate subtle character studies already know, last season revealed Jon Snow as a true Targaryen with the given name of Aegon. A Reddit postspotted by the Huffington Post Tuesday shows that Jon's fellow fashion icon Ser Davos Seaworth was—in a great feat of sadness—taught to say the word "Aegon" by Shireen Baratheon (R.I.P.) seasons ago.

The guy tasked with playing Davos, Liam Cunningham, was recently bothered about this egg of the Easter variety at New York Comic-Con. Cunningham noted that show runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are prolific with the eggs. He also confirmed, like everyone else, absolutely nothing about Thrones' plans as it moves into its final episodes.

"I did get an email from David and Dan talking about, 'This is the last table read,' and that was a really sweet email," he told the Post. "Yeah, it's gonna be really odd. It's gonna be very odd. We've kind of been trying to prepare ourselves for the end of this from the beginning of last season."

At the top of the month, Cunningham basically confirmed that the final season wouldn't be done in time for a 2018 debut. "We're filming right up until the summer," he spilled to TV Guide. "When you think about it, up until last season we'd have six months to do ten episodes, so we're [doing] way more than that for six episodes. So that obviously will translate into longer episodes." Those episodes, as previously reported, are only expected to set HBO back a measly $15 million each.

This week also saw some potentially fan theory-crushing casting news, but who really knows anything for sure this far out?
