If you were bummed out when Aquaman had its release date pushed back, there's good news on the horizon. Reports out of Australia suggest production of the upcoming film will begin as soon as this week.

The Courier-Mail (via Comicbook.com) says Aquaman is all set to begin filming at Village Roadshow Studios, and Aquaman will be the latest film to join a series of blockbusters filmed in the Oceanic country. Thor: Ragnarok, The Wolverine, and Mad Max: Fury Road also filmed at least parts of their films in Australia, and shooting on the island continent makes a lot of sense for a movie about the master of the ocean.

If you need your fix of the aquatic hero, the titular character will make his way back to the big screen before he gets his big feature film. Actor Jason Momoa, who played Aquaman in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, will take another crack at the character when he appears in the new Justice League movie releasing in late 2017. Superman has remained absent in the build-up for Justice League, so Aquaman is likely to have a much bigger role in his second go-round.

Depending on what the reaction is to Justice League, hype could be through the roof by the time Momoa gets his feature debut. But even if Justice League is too dark and brooding, Aquaman promises to be a more lighthearted affair. Director James Wan has promised to have fun with the character and the movie, so there should be plenty of room for ass-kicking and one-liners.

Aquaman is expected to release in early October 2018, so despite the good news on the production front, you'll still have to wait patiently on this one for a bit.
