Hunter Moore, the founder of revenge porn website IsAnyoneUp, who has been sentenced today to two-and-a-half-years in prison.

As well as serving his time behind bars he will also be required to have his mental health evaluated. 29-year-old Moore is regarded as being ‘the godfather’ of revenge porn, which, according to engadget, enabled:

“jilted lovers to post intimate pictures of their former beaus when the relationship broke down”.

The trial revealed that he hired co-defendan Charlie ‘Gary Jones’ Evens to hack into women’s email accounts with the objective of finding private messages that could be shared. Evens has also been sentenced a few weeks back and will have to undergo a similar evaluation for three years. On top of his prison sentence Moore has to pay a fine of $2,000.

However Moore’s sentence isn’t the most severe given in a revenge porn case. Kevin Bolleart, according to engadget, was the founder of ugotposte and subsequently received an 18-year jail term after allowing 10,000 images of women to be posted without their consent.
