Almost every hip-hop fan has at some point contemplated the idea of making their own beats. And these days, becoming a producer is easy than ever.
But how do you get started? What do you need to know in order to move from your first tentative attempts to the top of the charts? And how are you going to find someone to rap on all those beats you're now making?
We talked to two of today's top producers, Zaytoven and Murda Beatz, to get the answers. Zaytoven is a Grammy-winning beatmaker best known for his work with Migos (he did a little song called "Versace"—maybe you've heard it once or twice?), Gucci Mane, Future, Usher, and more.
Murda Beatz has, at only 24, already produced hits for Nicki Minaj, Migos, 2 Chainz, and his NBA 2K partner Drake—Murda produced Drizzy's "Portland" and the No. 1 single "Nice for What."
