Having escaped the clutches of clueless A&Rs who asked her to write and sing "cheesy French songs", Margaux Avril has been quietly building up a formidable repertoire. Her first album, Instantanés, won her a solid fanbase, and big single "Soon" only cemented her support. Now she's back to build on that further with her latest single "Drifting", a rich and subtly textured piece of electronic pop music, brimming with Parisian charm and seduction, and expertly assisted in the studio by Dennis Brown of Postaal, French electro producer Fhin, and house music legend Alex Gopher.

Avril told Complex in an email: "This song is about the relationship you have with yourself that influences the other relationships in your life: with the ones you love, with passing time. By drifting from yourself, you drift from what surrounds you; the way we navigate through life's obstacles, choices we make. It talks about melancholy, nostalgia, and learning."
