Many things in the universe today would suggest that humans are only capable of abject bullshit and general nonsense. Thankfully, there are a few exceptions—like Kanye West's enthralling return to Twitter and the recent onslaught of new Janelle Monáe creations—that perfectly offset the many miseries of existence.

Late Sunday night, while I drunkenly dreamed of winning my first Oscar, Monáe dropped another new Dirty Computer cut. The phenomenal "I Like That" follows the equally accomplished "Django Jane," "PYNK," and "Make Me Feel." All four will appear in Monáe's upcoming "narrative film and accompanying musical album." Since announcing Dirty Computer, the multifaceted project has been described as an "emotion picture," which is an apt description for what we've seen thus far:

Monáe's most recent full-length was 2013's The Electric Lady. In a recent interview with iHeartRadio, Monáe explained why she felt 2018 was the perfect year for a proper follow-up. "I believe in timing, and I believe that 2018, this is the year of freedom," she said. "This is the year of being fearless. It always has been, but I think that we see it in film, we see it in music. And I just want to continue on that path of being fearless and free and creating songs to celebrate those who are oftentimes uncelebrated."

Dirty Computer is out April 27 via Wondaland Arts x Atlantic x Bad Boy. Don't sleep on it, squidbrains.
