Singer Bobby Valentino has been named as a suspect in a rape that's currently under investigation, according to TMZ. A woman filed a police report and named the singer in her account of the assault that she alleges took place on Sunday.

Police are keeping the details of the case quiet for now but opened an investigation to get to the bottom of it. A representative for Valentino told TMZ they'll be pursuing legal action of their own, essentially calling the allegations false as well as an extortion attempt.

"Bobby takes any allegation against women very seriously. However, false allegations damage true victims of sexual abuse." The rep did not say that the accuser asked Valentino for money directly did say the claims appear to be "a weak yet calculated attempt to obtain financial gain through ulterior motives in the matter."

This wouldn't be the first time that Valentino has claimed to be the victim of an extortion plot. A video surfaced last year showing the singer allegedly leaving a hotel room without paying a sex worker. Valentino hasn't spoken out about the ongoing investigation himself quite yet, but it could not have come at a worse time for the singer, as he just released his most recent project Electrik.
