The internet is still reeling from the viral Grammy's moment where Blue Ivy non-verbally told her parents, Jay-Z and Beyoncé, to "simmer down" during Camila Cabello's speech. Now that the dust has settled (the memes are still going strong, by the way), the ex-Fifth Harmony member is still trying to figure out what our beloved BIC might have meant by the gesture.
The “Havana” singer, who's in London for the 2018 Brit Awards, stopped by BBC Radio 1 for an interview with Nick Grimshaw and was asked about the viral moment. As it turns out, she's equally baffled as the rest of us. "What do you think that means," she asks Grimshaw in return. "I had a moment of just insecurity. What does that mean? I was like I’m not going into this wormhole. Do you think that she didn’t like my speech?”
The pop singer went on by telling Grimshaw that she “couldn’t think about” what Blue Ivy really meant, but thinks she has her stamp of approval because "kids like me.” The only thing she knows for sure is that it's probably for the best that she didn't see Blue's shushing in real time. “Thank God that I didn’t look down at the crowd while that was happening,” she said, adding that the experience would have been way too "overwhelming" had she caught it in the moment. "The good thing is I’d just come off of Kesha’s performance so I didn’t have time to think about it.”
