The world has been obsessed with Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton: An American Musical ever since it opened on Broadway in August 2015. In the last couple years—among many, many triumphs—the musical has won dozens of accolades, including 11 Tony Awards; had an official opening in Chicago and in London’s West End; aired the documentary Hamilton’s America on PBS; and released 2016’s 23-track project The Hamilton Mixtape.

Following the tape, Miranda has been set on releasing what he's calling "Hamildrops." For the first track, the December 2017–released "Ben Franklin’s Song," the Decemberists created music to lyrics Miranda had written for the show but didn’t use. Now Miranda's dropped his second offering, a video for the song "Wrote My Way Out," which features him rapping alongside Nas, Dave East, and Aloe Blacc. The song was included on The Hamilton Mixtape.

Set in a black-and-white version of New York, we see Nas, Miranda, Blacc, and East take turns rapping and singing, their verses interspersed with powerful scenes of children and dynamic views of the city. The four wax poetic on the ways in which they used their craft to get them out of their tough upbringings.

The Hamilton Mixtape featured a fair amount of notable musicians, such as the Roots, Chance the Rapper, the Social Experiment, Usher, Sia, Alicia Keys, John Legend, and more.
