Top Dawg Entertainment's Jay Rock has returned with a new single called "King's Dead" featuring Kendrick LamarFuture, and James Blake. Rock surprised us with the release, which doubles as both the second single from the TDE-curated Black Panther soundtrack, as well as the lead single from his forthcoming album.

The last time we saw a solo project from Jay Rock was his 2015 studio album 90059—and the last time we heard him on a released song was E-40's 2016 track "Money." With highly-acclaimed TDE releases from Kendrick Lamar, SZA, and ScHoolboy Q, Rock is indeed overdue to drop an album.

Jay Rock paid a visit to Los Angeles radio station Real 92.3's show The Real After Party to discuss the Black Panther soundtrack, and his new album. Watch the interview up top.

While "King's Dead" is the only song on the soundtrack featuring Jay Rock, he told hosts Bootleg Kev and DJ Damage that the album is done. "I just had a minor little setback," Rock explained, referring to a motorcycle crash that occurred in 2016. "For those who don’t know, I was in an accident. I was just healing up, and when I healed up, I just locked-in the studio."

Though there isn't a proposed release date for his album, or a title, Rock confirms that he has a feature from Lamar, and gave a quick shout-out to producers Cardo and Nascent.

Marvel's highly anticipated film Black Panther is set to be released on February 16.
