Gucci Mane ended out his 2017 glo up with the release of El Gato: The Human Glacier right before Christmas. What many might not have expected was the album helping Gucci set a new Billboard record.

That's right; with 21,000 album equivalent units moved, Gucci's El Glacier debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard Top Rap chart for Jan. 6, making this Gucci's 18th album to debut in the Top 10 of Billboard's Top Rap Album chart. Both E-40 and Tech N9ne share this record on the Top Rap Album chart, going back to the debut of the chart (June 26, 2004).

According to Billboard, this appears to be a regular thing for Gucci. His first album, 2005's Trap House, was his first Top Rap Album chart debut, propelled by his smash hit "Icy." He ended the 2000s with eight Top 10 albums on said chart, including three No. 1 debuts on the chart: 2009's The State vs. Radric Davis, 2016's Everybody Looking, and Mr. Davis, which was released in October of 2017 and hit No. 1 the following November.

Gucci's among some dope company who might try to take the record, assuming they keep their consistency up. Jay Z currently has 12 albums to debut in the Top Rap Album's top 10, with Boosie Badazz, DJ Khaled, Pitbull, and The Game all tied for 11 records sharing the same distinction. T.I., Ghostface Killah, and Rick Ross are also on the list, all tied at 10 albums apiece.

Sounds like this could be the first notch in Gucci's continued success for 2018.
