SZA will cap an eventful 2017 on Dec. 9 with her first appearance on Saturday Night Live. The TDE songstress appeared in a series of clips with James Franco and Kate McKinnon to promote her debut on the long-running sketch comedy show a week after being nominated for no less than five Grammy awards.

One clip briefly showcases the quick wit and candor that pushed SZA’s CTRL to the top of the charts, as Franco and McKinnon joked about their respective pecking order on the upcoming show.

“Sorry, SZA beats Kate,” Franco quipped during the video.

“Okay, but Kate beats James,” McKinnon replied. “Which means…”

“James beats SZA?” Franco added before being quickly shot down.

“Hmmm… SZA beat both of y’all,” SZA interjected.

Franco’s appearance comes as his film, The Disaster Artist, is slated to earn a fourth-place box office showing during an admittedly slow weekend leading up to Return of the Jedi. Per Deadline, the film, which Franco stars in and directed, is on pace to earn $6.4 million this weekend and $8 million overall after being shown in 821 more locations than last week.

In 2016, SNL enjoyed one of its highest rated seasons in terms of viewership, with the season premiere drawing 8.297 million viewers overall. The numbers are slightly down this season, despite appearances from Jay Z, U2, Eminem and Chance the Rapper.

You can watch the clip above, which also features McKinnon showcasing some spastic, Elaine Benes-inspired dancing. Episode eight of SNL’s 43rd season airs Saturday at 11:30 pm EST.
