Kendrick Lamar Made a Surprise Appearance at SZA's Show and the Crowd Lost It

I can't believe I missed this.

SZA's must-see Ctrl Tour still has a few weeks of dates left, but fans unlucky enough to live somewhere other than Los Angeles will likely be kicking themselves for years to come after seeing who popped in for Monday's show at the Novo.

Fellow Top Dawg Entertainment star Kendrick Lamar surprised the crowd by joining SZA for a performance of the Ctrl cut "Doves in the Wind." Check out fan-shot footage of the performance up top (and below) and just, um, pretend you were there or whatever.

SZA's Ctrl Tour has been bolstered by a string of recent collaborations, including the stacked remix of Lorde's Melodrama single "Homemade Dynamite." The near-perfect reimagining of the track also features Post Malone and Khalid.

The soundtrack to the second season of Issa Rae's hit HBO comedy Insecure was released earlier this month, featuring the official version of SZA's series-exclusive track "Quicksand."

Fans should expect a deluxe edition of Ctrl soon. In an interview with Cosmopolitan back in July, SZA confirmed a re-release when asked about the status of a few previously unreleased tracks. "Toward the end, I got so confused and murky, and I realized that it had just really been too long," she explained. "I think time got ahold of my brain and my anxiety was peaking. It was fucked up so I left off, like, five songs. I made some last-minute decisions that I definitely regret, some last-minute flops, but thankfully there is a deluxe edition."

In the meantime, catch SZA on the road. Tickets for the remaining Ctrl show dates can be found here.
