Usher Accuser's Tweet About Needing Money Not Related to Case, Says Her Lawyer

"It's not a crime to be honest about the fact that you need money," says attorney Lisa Bloom.

If you've been following Usher's legal woes over the past few weeks, you no doubt realize that he's facing multiplelawsuits for allegedly exposing several sexual partners to herpes.

But now one of his accusers, Quantasia Sharpton, is facing some scrutiny of her own. Sharpton came forward in a press conference on Monday, saying that she engaged in "sexual contact" with Usher, which she wouldn't have done if he disclosed that he had the STD.

Not long after the press conference, some people noticed that just a week prior, Sharpton had tweeted, "I need some money." Her Twitter account is locked, but you can see a screenshot below.

On Tuesday, Sharpton's lawyer Lisa Bloom talked to TMZ about the criticism and defended her client.

"It's not a crime to be poor in America," the attorney said. "It's not a crime to be honest about the fact you need money. Most people need money."

Bloom went on to point out that Sharpton hadn't even set out a specific amount of money she was looking for in the suit. She only wanted whatever a jury decided was a fair amount.

Bloom further told TMZ that her client had been repeatedly fat-shamed since going public. "[She's] so brave to step forward," the lawyer said.
