Corporate social media accounts are always trying to do the absolute most to fit in with the cool youths, and more often than not the result is a cringeworthy disaster. Sometimes, though, a corporate social media account does something so original and awesome that it really does deserve universal acclaim. And whoever is behind KFC’s Twitter account has gone and done just that.

Twitter user Edge (@edgette22) noticed something about KFC’s list of Twitter followers. They only follow 11 people: the five Spice Girls, and six random dudes named Herb. Notice anything familiar yet?

.@KFC follows 11 people.

Those 11 people? 5 Spice Girls and 6 guys named Herb.

11 Herbs & Spices. I need time to process this.

The whole thing is so simple that it really deserves a round of applause. And even though we don't know how the original poster discovered this gem—too much time on his hands? Maybe he knows a guy over at KFC headquarters?—we can all agree that this is one of the greatest things to come out of the internet in quite some time. Needless to say, people went nuts.

the person that runs the KFC account needs a raise. I don't care how much they make now. GIVE THEM A RAISE.
Now we at least know the spice to herb ratio in the secret KFC recipe. https://t.co/i0VlCKQ2LJ
How long do you think their social media person has been waiting for someone to notice that?
Ha! Well played Colonel, well played.

But even though this new discovery has blown the mind of thousands and sent KFC and the dude who first tweeted about his discovery to viral status, he might not have been the first to notice this elaborate marketing strategy joke. One of the 6 men named Herb noticed the stunt about a month ago when KFC first began following him.

So @kfc just followed me, five other people named Herb and ... the Spice Girls. That's cute. pic.twitter.com/sT5gOMlEfN

Are you craving some fried chicken now? Well, then, it worked!
