Brooklyn Man Leaves Woman to Die in Burning Car After Getting Into Crash

The driver left the woman and hailed a cab.

On early Friday morning 23-year-old Saeed Ahmad of Brooklyn got into a fiery accident on the Gowanus Expressway. Following the crash, Ahmad abandoned the passenger, 25-year-old Harleen Grewel of Astoria, Queens, as the 2007 Infiniti G35 sedan burned. Ahmad then proceeded to hail a cab with Grewel still in the burning vehicle.

"Can I get a ride?" Ahmad can be heard saying in the video provided by ABC 7's WABC

After firefighters put out the flames, the 25-year-old Grewel was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which was located between Hamilton Avenue and the Prospect Expressway. Authorities believe that Grewel was Ahmad's date.

The man was reportedly arrested while being treated for burns at a hospital and hit with multiple charges including leaving the scene of an accident, criminally negligent homicide, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, and speeding.

WABC is reporting that the family members of Grewal said that they are "tremendously distraught and know very little about what has happened to their daughter."
