Moments after being raped by a 27-year-old man in a Birmingham, U.K. train station, a 14-year-old girl was assaulted a second time during a search for help.

The first assault, which took place in a stop near the stadium for English soccer club Aston Villa F.C., prompted the young girl to take to the street in search of assistance. The Birmingham Mail reports that after she got in a car with another man she flagged down, thinking someone might help, she was raped a second time.

The young girl's harrowing tale has evolved into a national storyline in England, as an extensive search is underway in pursuit of the men who assaulted her. One man, a 27-year-old named Khurram Rahi, has been formally charged for the first sexual assault, and is set to make his first court appearance Monday.

Detective Chief Inspector Tony Fitzpatrick expressed his thanks to the public for helping to apprehend the suspected criminal, but stressed that the search for the second assailant was still vital.

"I am pleased we are now in a position to charge a man in connection," Fitzpatrick said. "I would once again like to thank the public and the media for their help in sharing this appeal. However, we still have a suspect outstanding for the offense in the vehicle. I would urge anyone who may have any information regarding this attack to get in touch as soon as possible."

So far, little is known about the outstanding suspect aside from a few descriptive characteristics. He is believed to be an Asian man around 5'6" in height, allegedly possessing "large biceps."

A 34-year-old man, also arrested during the search, was released by police as they continue their investigation. Anyone with information on the matter has been encouraged to contact the British Transport Police at the number 0800 40 50 40.

If you or anyone you know has been impacted by sexual assault, you can call the National Sexual Assault Telephone Hotline at 800-656-HOPE (4673), where you can get confidential help 24/7.
